Infiltrate

In their eyes
is despise
from rejection and lies.
They devise
to remove and refrain.
Behind thick walls of steel
far away from what is real,
no need to feel;
or heal.
They conceal
what is deep in the core;
there’s a war.
And what’s more
is they shy from the door,
eyes to floor, face to ground.
Glancing back, or around,
but not up, not ahead.
Motivation -it’s said-
is found absent or dead,
so they believe in their head
what has been labelled in red.
That they’re:
“lazy” and “mean”
“aggressive”, “obscene”
“lacking empathy and care”
“out to scare”
“they abuse”
“likely use .. into drugs”
“violent thugs”
“they’ve no fear”
.. but they hear
what is said, becomes labelled in red.
And engrained in their heads.
And on the walls
built so strong
to protect
what they feel, that they feel
what is real:
broken hearts, torn apart by distrust
hope, to rust.
they’ve adjusted
to no expectations, no relations
survival.
the world as a rival
betrayal, as a lens
for potential
for mending what has broken.
Outspoken,
their exhale is tension
that breeds apprehension
to act, to respond.
Infiltration
beyond those strong walls.
